August - September 2024 Newsletter

We are officially seeing the effects of the second year of growth, and nearing full coverage of grass in irrigated areas. The greens, tees, and fairways have softened after numerous aerifications. The definition between fairways and rough is evident. We are very pleased with the results. The goal is for full coverage of playing areas by the fall. Green speeds will gradually increase during the fall & winter months as the Tif Eagle Bermuda blades of grass shrink during times of cooler temperatures.

St. Johns Golf Club
Where everyone plays!

Freshly renovated and re-opened in November 2022, the St. Johns Golf Club offers a singular golf experience. Architect Eric Larsen: Erik Larsen: American Society of Golf Course Architects | Larsengolf.net reimagined the course in the early 1900s classic design form of CB MacDonald and Seth Raynor. The course routing flows with long fairway lines, offering great visuals from the tee. Fairway bunkers are rectangular with flat bottoms and low, angular lips. The majority of the greens are rectangular, while others form alongside water. Green side bunkers are also rectangular with steeper faces, commonly referred to as “coffin bunkers”.

Unique design features along with strategically placed bunkers, large fairways, nine greens abutting water ensure a challenging experience rarely seen at a public golf course. Stunning vistas of water and wetlands abound, most notably the shots into the greens on the water. Read more about our course.
